Welcome to Maureen Ritchie Counselling Services. I can help those struggling with issues of life transition, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, personal issues, e.g. self-esteem, grief and loss and relationship issues. I have a degree in Psychology and Social Work and am a Professional Member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Whilst relationships, personal and workplace crises expose individuals to acute and extreme life stresses, they can become an opportunity for growth and self-development. It is how we deal with our difficulties which determines how our problems can be resolved. When problems persist self-esteem, respect, trust and love are tested.

A professional counsellor will assist you to talk openly and clearly about your problems and feelings. You will develop a better understanding of the complex issues that are affecting you along with the associated events and behaviours.

I provide professional and confidential counselling and draw on a range of theories to understand how to facilitate the process of change and growth. I have had advanced training both in Australia and overseas in a number of evidence based counselling approaches.

As well as counselling I facilitate guided meditation groups, and am an accredited meditation teacher registered with the Meditation Association of Australia, the national peak body representing meditation and meditation teachers. These groups are for meditators of all levels.

I have always been drawn to work with people to assist them to be the best they possibly can and reach their potential. All of us have periods in our lives where we face certain life challenges. My personal experience has shown me that a very effective way of working through these challenges is to work with a professional counsellor that you can relate to.

Together with counselling, I have found meditation a very useful tool for managing the stresses of everyday life as well as maintaining good health and emotional wellbeing. I have a passion for sharing some simple techniques that can be incorporated at home as well as running ongoing group meditation sessions.

Personally, I enjoy the simple pleasures of life including reading, meditating, bush walking and spending time with family and friends over a good meal or a cup of tea.
